CHILD RIGHT MOVEMENT "SAVE THE CHILDREN"

"Children are blocks on which culture of human rights are built".
"As human beings, children are entitled to all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights".
These are the commitments that are made by the high-ups of Pakistan. But ground reality paints a dismal picture with regard to the status of children and the efforts to change their lot.
We are living in a country where majority of children do not enjoy the basic rights such as right to education, health and shelter. we see all around us, children are working in workshops, flower shops, tea shops, kiosks, departmental stores, restaurants, carpet factories, kilns factories etc. Means everywhere we go.
RAISE THE HOPE!
LET’S KICK OFF CHILD RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN PAKISTAN.

What Can We Do As An Individual?
  • We need to rescue the children who are producing wealth for others at the cost of their present and future.
  • We should try to alleviate the plight of children who are being enslaved and exploited.
  • We should spread awareness
  • We need to need to eradicate the evil of child labour in all its forms and manifestations.
  • There is need of special care and protection.
  • It is vital that we strive to grant all the basic rights to children today if we want to succeed in.

CURSE OF CHILD LABOUR

Child labour is a dark area, dark area in the sense that the spotlight hardly ever falls on the volunteers who spend their time and effort and sometimes their money in pursuing it.

Worst Forms of Child Labour:
Worst forms of Child labour are defined as
  •  Slavery
  •  Trafficking
  •  Bonded labour
  •  Forced recruitment into armed conflict
  •  Prostitution
  • Pornography
  • Activities such as the sale of drugs

HOW A STATE CAN ERADICATE CHILD LABOUR:
  1. Spread awareness.
  2. Government should address the root causes for exploitation.
  3. Ensure the protection of children.
  4. Withdrawal of children from harmful situations.
  5. Strict enforcement of laws related to the custody of children.
  6. Expose the children to education and skills for self-improvement.
  7. To keep children’s rights high on the official agenda.
  8. Private social welfare agencies neither have the strong force nor the clout to influence people against this evil. So, this work must be taken up by the POLITICAL PARTIES, and particularly so by the RELIGIOUS POLITICAL PARTIES.

CHILDREN WHO NEVER RETURNED!

More than 500 children a year are gone missing in Pakistan. Young children are kidnapped and made them forcibly beggars, thief, pick picketers, domestic servants etc. They become the agents of drug mafia. Human trafficking is common and many lifted children are smuggled abroad as camel jockeys or camel kids. There are plenty of forms that show the violation of Children’s rights.

CAUSES:

  • There are no result oriented public awareness campaigns about treating children with respect.
  • Those who mistreat children are never punished.
  • Photographs of disappeared children are not regularly displayed on television, public places or other sources of media.
  • Poverty leads parents to allow their children to be employed in Gulf States as camel jockeys.
