BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGY

How to prepare list of evaluation?

Prepare a list that is made up of simple things. This list should be prepared after every maximum and minimum 100 days of work. This will motivate you and restore confidence.

  1. Write down all the wrong doings in the last 100 days. Let’s get rid of those. Nail your pain points and say “OK, what needs to be done to make sure that does not happen again?”  This should be the major part of the list.
  2. Another significant part of the list is the personal growth stuff, which everybody must include on their list. You want to advance. You want to grow as a person. There are things you want to get better at. Analyse yourself at this stage honestly and let you know yourself about personal growth and involve yourself in personal growth activities and personality development. Self improvement can do wonders for your organisation.
  3. Develop a mechanism for future activities keeping in mind the prior mistakes and blunders.
  4. Goal setting should be more or less realistic. Make it sure that every worker of the company knows the targets and the thinking of the company.

Ten-point business evaluation check list for entrepreneurs

EVALUATION

Why does evaluation after 100 days?

  • It works brilliantly because one can never be more than 100 days wrong as a company.
  • You have got to allow time for people to feel the pain of getting something wrong. This pain is mandatory to feel because this proves a driving force to move ahead.
  • When you create a competitive environment that has total transparency, you will not do mistakes twice.

I hope all these genuine suggestions will work in one or other way. Good Luck!

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

I want to discuss the few but most important traits of a good leader. It will be helpful to lead a group of people.

1. One of the traits of a good leader is being able to build loyalty beyond reason, and getting people totally believing that something is possible and this is fundamental to leading a group of people.

2. Everybody wants to be led. Remember! Workers want to know two things.
  • They want to know what they should be doing.
  • They want to know that what they are doing.
It is the complete responsibility of a leader to answer above two questions in open way.

3. Group leader must set up an environment in which his colleagues totally trust that.

4. Consistency in behaviour is the most important thing to lead a group of people. People in leadership roles must behave consistently. If they behave inconsistently, this means they are telling their colleagues to do something and do something totally different themselves.

CONSISTENCY IN BEHAVIOUR -LEADERSHIP SKILL

Now the question arises how to develop consistency in behaviour at a firm or organisation?

Following steps are important to adopt it.
  • Get together every 100 days as a group.
  • Draw up a list of all the things that want to get done in the next 100 days.
  • Go away as an individual and come back with commitments to how you are going to contribute to that list.
  • Sit down with executive and president to discuss your plan
  • It‘s just key figures’ job to make sure that the sum of everybody’s plan nails the firm’s list.

REINVENT YOURSELF! A BUSINESS STRATEGY

Chief Executive and directors of an organisation go through many stages where they have to learn to get out of their own way. Yes this is true. There comes time when they realise that they have become a "creature of habit". And here they need to reinvent themselves.
They have to ensure that they are restless themselves as individual, because they are certainly demanding it of other people. So at this stage, reinventing yourself is important.

RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR RIGHT POST

When you enter to the world of business, your firm or organisation needs talented, capable and workaholic team of workers. For this purpose, head of the firm conducts interviews to select right candidate for the right post. In this case, he has to be cautious and this is considered the most important milestone of a business. If selection is made with razor sharp mind, the firm can break  all the previous records.

Approach to Managing People:
Most important tactic of running a good business is what is Director’s approach to manage his people? Try to uncover what people are really good at doing and then give them a hell of a lot of that to do. Truly it works!
Never be sort of person who believe in obsessing over trying to get people to do things that they are no good at anyway.

CHILD RIGHT MOVEMENT "SAVE THE CHILDREN"

"Children are blocks on which culture of human rights are built".
"As human beings, children are entitled to all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights".
These are the commitments that are made by the high-ups of Pakistan. But ground reality paints a dismal picture with regard to the status of children and the efforts to change their lot.
We are living in a country where majority of children do not enjoy the basic rights such as right to education, health and shelter. we see all around us, children are working in workshops, flower shops, tea shops, kiosks, departmental stores, restaurants, carpet factories, kilns factories etc. Means everywhere we go.
RAISE THE HOPE!
LET’S KICK OFF CHILD RIGHTS MOVEMENT IN PAKISTAN.

What Can We Do As An Individual?
  • We need to rescue the children who are producing wealth for others at the cost of their present and future.
  • We should try to alleviate the plight of children who are being enslaved and exploited.
  • We should spread awareness
  • We need to need to eradicate the evil of child labour in all its forms and manifestations.
  • There is need of special care and protection.
  • It is vital that we strive to grant all the basic rights to children today if we want to succeed in.

CURSE OF CHILD LABOUR

Child labour is a dark area, dark area in the sense that the spotlight hardly ever falls on the volunteers who spend their time and effort and sometimes their money in pursuing it.

Worst Forms of Child Labour:
Worst forms of Child labour are defined as
  •  Slavery
  •  Trafficking
  •  Bonded labour
  •  Forced recruitment into armed conflict
  •  Prostitution
  • Pornography
  • Activities such as the sale of drugs

HOW A STATE CAN ERADICATE CHILD LABOUR:
  1. Spread awareness.
  2. Government should address the root causes for exploitation.
  3. Ensure the protection of children.
  4. Withdrawal of children from harmful situations.
  5. Strict enforcement of laws related to the custody of children.
  6. Expose the children to education and skills for self-improvement.
  7. To keep children’s rights high on the official agenda.
  8. Private social welfare agencies neither have the strong force nor the clout to influence people against this evil. So, this work must be taken up by the POLITICAL PARTIES, and particularly so by the RELIGIOUS POLITICAL PARTIES.

CHILDREN WHO NEVER RETURNED!

More than 500 children a year are gone missing in Pakistan. Young children are kidnapped and made them forcibly beggars, thief, pick picketers, domestic servants etc. They become the agents of drug mafia. Human trafficking is common and many lifted children are smuggled abroad as camel jockeys or camel kids. There are plenty of forms that show the violation of Children’s rights.

CAUSES:

  • There are no result oriented public awareness campaigns about treating children with respect.
  • Those who mistreat children are never punished.
  • Photographs of disappeared children are not regularly displayed on television, public places or other sources of media.
  • Poverty leads parents to allow their children to be employed in Gulf States as camel jockeys.

SLEEP WITHOUT STRESS

Now you can sleep without stress. You can defeat this enemy easily. The technique that i am going to share with all of you is very useful and you can get maximum results from this.

  • One hour before going to sleep, you make a list of problems, issues that make you disturb.
  • Next to each item write a solution or plan how can you resolve it.
  • Say yourself,"I have got a plan and i will work on it tomorrow."
  • Before going to bed, put this list of stressors outside your bed room.
  • When you are ready for bed like other nights, thoughts of your problems begin to arise in your mind and you are unable to sleep. At that time, say yourself twice or thrice,"Oh I have got a plan and i will work on it tomorrow."

This assurance allow you to convert stressful thoughts to peaceful mind and you will feel easiness and relaxed. As a result, you will enjoy peaceful and deep sleep. I am sure you will get up in the morning with fresh mind and happy mood.

You must try it if you have sleep disturbance or insomnia. This really works!

TEACHER STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS

I have been lucky enough through out my academic life to have teachers experts in their fields and affable and benign in their attitudes and character. Teacher student relationship is beyond the boarders of sex type and age limit. This is an honest and pure relationship that should not be move towards in wrong directions. This is my belief. But reality is quite different.

Two months ago, I joined a course of Computer where a male, young teacher was assigned to deliver the lectures to female students at a Women University. I keenly observed the behaviour of all the students during this course.

I noticed that during the first day of class, many female young students assessed the male young teacher at the standard of their imaginary or real boy friends or life-partners. If teacher's dressing is impressive and he smiles , it means 90% girls get into trap and begins to think that he might be her boy friend. But......... to be continued

GOOD GRIEF

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE NORMAL BEREAVEMENT WITH MAJOR DEPRESSION.

Many people who experience completely normal grief, are being mislabeled as having a" PSYCHIATRIC PROBLEM". But reality is different. For instance, if somebody's spouse died two weeks ago and he feels sad, take less interest in life, have little appetite, can't sleep well and don't feel good to go to work etc. All these symptoms exactly match the symptoms of a Major Depressive Disorder as mentioned in D.S.M.5. It is not good to call normal griever "a sick."
If a doctor labels him in hurry, it would be harder for griever to go back to normal life.

HOW TO TREAT MOURNER:
Almost every griever recovers from grief at last. Only TIME and SUPPORT are required. This treatment would undoubtedly have the highest placebo response rate in medical history.
Medication would cause them more harm than good.

Turning Threat Into Challenge

There are bundles of techniques to cope with stress. To me , turning threat into challenge is most effective and result producing strategy.
A stressful situation might be controllable if we treat it as a challenge. When we take a challenge, we automatically focus on ways to control it and try to use our whole potential and energy. At the end, we win the battle against stress.
Yes! it works. You should try it to challenge me.

For instance, If you have a load of work at your office and you are under stress whether you can complete it or not in a given time frame. At this time, you should put aside all your confusions and apprehensions. Take your that day's work as a challenge. At the moment of taking it a challenge, you will find your mind as a razor sharp mind. There will be many more alternatives and ways to finish your assigned work in front of you. Choose the best and start work. Best Of Luck!
When you have finished, you will be surprised that your stress is no more. You are  fresh and relaxed now.  Great!

    DEPRESSION

    Clinical Features:
Depressed mood is  a normal response to a loss. However, these feelings usually last for a few days, and they don't interfere much with our lives. If someone has these feelings without a reason or if they don't pass away in a short period after a loss, and/or when they are so bad that they interfere with life, we say that the person is suffering from depression.
Depression is an illness that involves the body, mood, and thought.

    Signs and Symptoms of Depression
These are the common symptoms of depression. Most people with depression will not have all symptoms listed here, but for a diagnosis of depression a person should have at least five or six symptoms and should have lasted for more than two weeks.

    • Feeling unhappy most of the time
    • Losing interest in life and not enjoying anything.
    • Finding it harder to make decisions, problem in remembering things.
    • Being unable to cope with things that they used to.
    • Feel utterly tired.
    • Feel restless and agitated.
    • Lose appetite and weight.(some people find they do the reverse and put on weight)
    • Disturbed sleep
    • Loss of interest in sex.
    • Loss of self-esteem and self-confidence.
    • Feel useless and inadequate and hopeless.
    • Avoiding other people
    • Feeling irritable
    • Feel worse at a particular time each day, usually in the morning
    • Thinking of Suicide

Development of Dementia More likely in Heavy Smokers !

A research says that middle-aged smokers are far more likely than nonsmokers to develop dementia later in life. But heavy smokers who go through more than two packs a day, are at more than double the risk to suffer from dementia.

      What is Dementia?
Dementia is a general term for "loss of memory" and other mental abilities severe enough to interfere with daily life. It is caused by changes in the brain.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of Dementia.

Girls Are More Prone to Recurrence Of Depression

Research shows that girls are known to be more prone to initial depression than boys.

      Causes:
      • It has to do with something in girls around the particular age that this is going on.
      • More stressful life events
      • It is important as well that the way and attitude , girls cope with stress.
      • It may be related to hormonal changes.
      • Girls tend to be brood more, so the slightest stress is multiplied many times.
Why are boys less prone to recurrence of depression?
It may happen that boys get more in trouble and feel sad, but when trouble goes away they feel better.
It is the whole attitude .

      Depression in Teenagers often returns.

About half of adolescents who recovered from major depression became depressed again within five years, regardless of what treatment or therapy they received to get over their initial depression,a new study shows.
      Comment it!

Researchers had previously found that those receiving the Prozac-and-Cognitive therapy combination recovered faster from the first depression. So they expected those youths to be less prone to another depression.
But detailed study showed different results. After 36 weeks, improvement for everyone was similar, and by two years, 47percent suffered another major depression, no matter what treatment had helped them recover.
It all shows that there is strong need for some kind of aftercare to prevent recurrence.

      STRESS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES

Stress is described as a complex set of reactions made by an individual under pressure to adapt.
Stress is something that happens inside people. There are physiological reactions and unpleasant feelings (e.g distress and anxiety) associated with stress.

      Types of stressors:
There are many circumstances and events that can produce stress. I shall describe three types of stressors.
      1. Frustration
      2. Conflict
      3. Life events
I shall discuss these stressors in detail some other post. But today i shall describe you how i remove my stress. It is a very simple technique but most effective.
      • Deep breath.
      • Keep your back straight.
      • Stretch your arms as much as you can.
      • Hold your head upside.
      • Close your eyes and see the most beautiful moment of your life.Live in that moment for 5 minutes at least.
      • Open your eyes slowly.
I am sure you will be relaxed.

      STRESS- GOOD OR BAD

Good stress can make you feel energized and motivated; whereas bad stress can rob you of your health and happiness.

      Facing the Day
Positive Stress: By facing any situation with enough excitement to override fear, you can avoid negative stress.
Negative Stress: Occurs when a situation is faced with a mixture of dread, worry, and anxiety.

      Tough Schedules
Positive Stress: Ensure that positive stress is a part of your routine by allowing your filled-to-the-brim schedule to contain several activities you find satisfying and look forward to doing.
Negative Stress: You're sure to experience negative stress if you have an overloaded schedule stuffed with obligations that you don’t enjoy and would not fulfill if you had a choice.

      Commitments
Positive Stress: Sometimes it's tough to balance all of your commitments. The trick is to pick the right ones. Whether it's being a wife, husband, parent, president or valued employee, make sure that your commitment list contains things that you would never want to give up completely, even though you may feel overwhelmed.
Negative Stress: When you feel that your commitments are unimportant, unfulfilling, and not worth the effort, negative stress will occur as a result.

      Setting Goals
Positive Stress: Working toward a valued goal and knowing that life will slow down once you achieve it. In this case, positive stress presents itself as motivation and drive to accomplish your set goals.
Negative Stress: Without a goal, people often feel out of control and overwhelmed with no end in sight and no help on the horizon.

      Tackling Tasks
Positive Stress: By addressing tasks with positive stress, people tend to feel challenged, alert, and energetic - primed to tackle the task at hand, whatever it may be.
Negative Stress: Meanwhile, those who allow negative stress to dominate their lives often feel as though they want to crawl under the covers and stay there rather than take a stab at the task at hand.

      Sleeping Patterns
Positive Stress: People who live their lives with positive stress tend to experience a good kind of tired; one which allows them to feel fulfilled enough to get a restful, deep sleep.
Negative Stress: Contrarily, people who experience too much negative stress often have restless sleeps, ulcers, back pain, or recurrent minor illnesses which simply add to their level of negative stress. A proper sleep pattern is extremely important for stress management.
Now that you have an understanding of the difference between good and bad stress, try to find the perfect balance in your life by becoming more aware of your reactions and behaviour on a daily basis.

      EFFECTS OF STRESS-  TOXIC
